ALPHATHETA AND SOUNDSWITCH BRING AUTOMATED LIGHTING TO REKORDBOX

AlphaTheta has announced a new integration with SoundSwitch, bringing automated lighting synchronisation to rekordbox and PRO DJ LINK Bridge.

Announced on September 24, 2026, the collaboration allows DJs to create professional-quality light shows that automatically synchronise with the beats, phrases and structure of their music.

Developed by inMusic, SoundSwitch is a lighting automation software designed specifically for DJs, allowing them to control visual effects directly alongside their performances.

The integration aims to make immersive lighting experiences more accessible, particularly for DJs performing in bars, lounges, weddings, corporate events and small-to-mid-sized clubs where dedicated lighting operators may not be available.

Previously, rekordbox and SoundSwitch relied on tempo synchronisation through Ableton Link. The latest update introduces official application-level integration, giving DJs access to SoundSwitch's full feature set while working with their existing rekordbox music libraries and playlists.

One of the key features is automated track scripting, which allows SoundSwitch to analyse a DJ's music library, identifying key phrases and instrumentation to generate a unique lighting show for each track.

DJs can also create custom lighting sequences from scratch, trigger beat-synchronised lighting loops and build static lighting scenes to highlight specific moments during a performance.

The integration supports MIDI controllers, allowing DJs to use dedicated SoundSwitch hardware or compatible third-party devices to control lighting effects.

Lighting shows created manually or automatically will play back in sync with tracks in rekordbox, while integration with faders on compatible DJ equipment allows lighting transitions to follow the DJ's performance.

All rekordbox-compatible AlphaTheta and Pioneer DJ hardware is supported when using SoundSwitch with rekordbox.

The update also introduces SoundSwitch support through PRO DJ LINK Bridge, allowing professional DJ equipment to communicate track information and playback status directly with lighting software in real time.

This enables DJs using supported CDJ players and DJM mixers to deliver synchronised sound and lighting without requiring a separate operator to manually control every visual effect.

Compatible equipment includes the CDJ-3000X, CDJ-3000, CDJ-1500X, DJM-V10, DJM-V10-LF and DJM-A9.

For smaller venues, the integration offers a more streamlined approach to visual production, reducing setup complexity while allowing lighting effects to respond automatically to the music being played.

Liam Hornby, Senior Product Owner at SoundSwitch, welcomed the collaboration, highlighting the creative possibilities it brings to the AlphaTheta ecosystem.
