DEEP SESSIONS RETURNS TO DUBAI, BUILDING A NEW HOME FOR PROGRESSIVE HOUSE
Groove Society's underground concept returns this August after a sold-out debut, championing deep and progressive house in the UAE
Dubai's electronic music scene is set to welcome the return of Deep Sessions, the underground event series from local collective Groove Society, as it prepares for its second edition on 22 August 2026. Following a packed debut earlier this year, the concept is quickly establishing itself as one of the city's few dedicated spaces for lovers of deep and progressive house music.
Hosted at Soiree Restaurant & Lounge inside The Opus by Omniyat in Business Bay, Deep Sessions was created to fill a gap in Dubai's nightlife by offering a home for music built around long-form storytelling rather than short, peak-time moments. Instead of following commercial trends, the night celebrates the immersive sounds that have defined progressive house for decades.
Drawing inspiration from artists including Sasha & Digweed, Nick Warren, Way Out West and William Orbit, alongside labels such as Anjunadeep, Deep Sessions is rooted in melodic, emotional and journey-driven electronic music. The concept also acknowledges the genre's passionate following across India and Sri Lanka, where progressive house has remained a significant part of club culture for many years.
Speaking about the vision behind the project, Border Control, resident DJ and co-founder, said the aim was to create a venue where the music could evolve naturally throughout the night.
"Dubai has world-class nightlife, but the deep and progressive sound never really had a home here. We wanted to build that — a night where the music can breathe, where the DJs can tell a story over hours, and where the people who love this sound know they belong."
Resident DJ Goos added that progressive house continues to resonate with audiences around the world, particularly across South Asia, and hopes to grow that community within Dubai.
The inaugural edition of Deep Sessions proved there is demand for the concept. The night opened with Nawa, before Harith built momentum leading into a standout back-to-back set from Goos and Border Control. Halishan then closed the evening, rounding off a musical journey that kept the dancefloor full from start to finish.
According to Groove Society, the enthusiastic response, spontaneous applause during sets and overwhelming requests for another event confirmed that Dubai's progressive house community had been waiting for a night like this.
Deep Sessions returns to Soiree Restaurant & Lounge on Saturday, 22 August 2026, with residents Nawa, Harith, Halishan, Border Control and Goos once again taking control of the soundtrack.
As Groove Society continues to build its community, Deep Sessions is positioning itself as more than just another club night. It is a platform dedicated to preserving and celebrating one of electronic music's most enduring genres while giving Dubai's underground scene a place to call home.
