DOUBLE TOUCH AND REIGAN LEAD A SUNSET SESSION AT SHIMMERS
This marks the second edition of the venue's immersive live electronic series, Waves of Sound.
This Saturday 17th January, Shimmers is host to a curated sunset session – headlined by Double Touch and Reigan.
Set directly on the sand at Jumeirah Mina Al Salam, with the Burj Al Arab in view, Shimmer's open-air layout makes it a natural home for sunset sessions that blur the line between music and vibe.
The programme opens at 3pm with Awaaz, easing things in with some melodic, hypnotic selections. Their sound sets a slow-build tone that suits the beachfront setting, letting the afternoon stretch out nicely.
From 5pm to 7pm, the focus shifts to a live sunset set from Double Touch, joined by vocalist Reigan. This is where the event really heats up.
Double Touch sit somewhere between a live band and an electronic act. Formed by classical pianist and composer Van-Anh Nguyen and DJ, drummer and producer Mark Olsen, the duo blends live keys and percussion with organic, melodic and Afro-leaning house rhythms.
That approach has earned them a strong connection to All Day I Dream, where their music and performances align naturally with the label’s sunset-focused, immersive ethos.
Alongside appearances at All Day I Dream events, Double Touch have taken this sound to stages like Scorpios in Mykonos, building a reputation for sets that feel expansive, intimate and perfectly suited to open-air settings.
Reigan adds another layer to the performance. Her vocals move between pop, soul and electronic influences, bringing warmth and clarity to Double Touch’s sound.
Her voice weaves through the music – adding a live, human edge that shifts the set away from a traditional DJ format.
As the light fades, Shimmers resident Dan Sayden keeps the flow moving.
Known for deep, groove-driven selections, he helps bridge the transition from sunset into evening, keeping the rhythm steady without breaking the mood.
Waves of Sound reflects a city-wide desire for more day-to-night electronic experiences, where setting matters as much as the soundtrack.
With Awaaz, Double Touch, Reigan and Dan Sayden shaping the journey, this event leans into musical flow, emotion and audience connection – and is one to put in your diary.
