GET TO KNOW GEMANDI

Q: How would you describe your sound and artistic identity right now?

A: My sound sits somewhere between melodic techno and indie dance, but I don’t like to box it in too much. I focus on emotion and energy—tracks that feel cinematic but still hit hard on the dancefloor. Lately, I’ve been exploring darker textures with uplifting elements to create contrast.

Q: What inspired you to start your journey as a DJ and producer?

A: It started with a deep love for music and club culture. I was always fascinated by how DJs could control the mood of a room. Over time, that curiosity turned into passion, and eventually into producing my own tracks to express something more personal.

Q: How has the UAE influenced your music and career?

A: The UAE has a very unique and fast-growing electronic scene. Being here exposed me to a diverse crowd and different styles. It pushed me to refine my sound and adapt to an international audience while still staying true to my identity.

Q: What’s your approach when creating a new track?

A: It usually starts with a mood or a feeling rather than a technical idea. I build atmospheres first—pads, melodies—then structure the groove around that. I like to keep space in my tracks so they breathe, especially for club systems.

Q: Who are some artists that have influenced your sound?

A: Artists like Adriatique, Tale Of Us, Swedish House Mafia and ARTBAT have definitely shaped my direction. Their ability to combine emotion with power is something I really admire.

Q: What has been a standout moment in your career so far?

A: One of the biggest moments was hearing my own track played on Radio and on a proper club system with a full crowd reacting to it. That connection between music and people is something you can’t replicate anywhere else.

Q: How do you approach DJ sets differently from producing music?

A: DJing is more about reading the crowd and being in the moment, while producing is more introspective. In a set, I’m telling a story in real-time. In the studio, I’m building something that can last beyond that moment.

Q: What’s next for Gemandi? Any upcoming releases or goals?

A: I’m working on several new releases that push my sound further into a more defined and mature direction. The goal is to get my music out on respected labels and continue growing internationally, while also contributing to the UAE scene.
