JARREAU VANDAL AND CHEDIAK HEAD TO DUBAI FOR DÈ FAVELA: O FLUXO
The Dubai cultural platform returns to 25hours Hotel One Central on October 17 for a ten-hour gathering spanning two stages, regional fashion, talks and a runway that moves through the crowd
Dè Favela is returning this October with its next edition, O Fluxo, bringing together music, fashion and culture for a ten-hour takeover of Room 3 at 25hours Hotel One Central on Saturday, October 17.
Produced by Dubai creative studio PBLK Affairs, O Fluxo takes its name from the Portuguese for “the flow”, referencing the movement of a crowd through a Brazilian baile. Rather than building the event around a conventional headline slot, Dè Favela is programming two stages running in parallel, a curated market of regional labels, talks and a fashion show staged directly through the crowd.
Leading the international side of the line-up are Jarreau Vandal and Chediak, both making their first appearances at Dè Favela.
Amsterdam’s Jarreau Vandal, who has been part of the Soulection collective since 2014, brings a genre-fluid sound spanning R&B, hip hop, funk, house and electronic music, with South African and Moroccan rhythmic influences. His career has taken him to Montreux Jazz Festival, Amsterdam Dance Event and Boiler Room, alongside his own Vandalized event series in London and Amsterdam. 1.
Joining him from Brazil is Chediak, whose self-described música elétrica moves through drum and bass, jungle, UK garage, footwork, ambient and techno, filtered through sounds including baile funk, tecnobrega, afrobeat and samba. He also runs SPEEDTEST RAVE and Discos Flutuantes, and previously brought together more than 60 Brazilian producers for the collaborative SPEEDTEST album.
They’ll be joined by a predominantly UAE-based line-up. The Dè Machine stage features Bymish, Jo Frrey, Shaz, Anwar Bougroug, CAYOCAYO and Brooklyn, while Dè Dugout brings Cheb Moha, Parv, Karrouhat, Elo, Warchief and Roseend from 7PM until close.
Fashion is built directly into O Fluxo rather than treated as a separate activation. The show will take place through the crowd with no barrier or traditional seating plan, while a market of independent regional and local labels will sell directly from the floor. Previous Dè Favela editions have brought together more than 20 independent brands alongside custom jersey services, open casting and street-style projects.
It reflects the wider idea behind Dè Favela, which describes itself as a cultural platform rather than simply an event promoter. Built around music, fashion, football and culture, previous editions have taken place at Alserkal Avenue and 25hours Hotel One Central, bringing sounds including baile funk, amapiano, Afro house and Gulf club music into the same space as regional fashion and creative communities.
Dè Favela: O Fluxo takes place Saturday, October 17 at Room 3, 25hours Hotel One Central. Doors open at 5PM, with the programme running into 3AM. Tickets start from AED155.
