EMAILS RELEASED TRYING TO PROVE THAT FYRE FESTIVAL 2 IS REAL

Fyre Festival founder Billy McFarland has released a series of emails to try and prove that the upcoming reboot of the festival is “legitimate.”

This comes amid growing doubts about whether the follow-up to the disastrous 2017 event will actually take place next month, as initially planned on the Mexican island of Isla Mujeres from May 30 to June 2.

In February, Edgar Gasca, the local tourism director for Isla Mujeres, told The Guardian, “We have no knowledge of this event, nor any contact with any individuals or companies about it. As far as we are concerned, this event does not exist.”

At the end of March, McFarland announced that the festival would be relocated to Playa del Carmen, a resort town in southern Mexico, stating that he “couldn’t ask for a better group of people” to collaborate with.

However, officials from Playa del Carmen also denied any knowledge of the festival, clarifying that “there is no registration or planning [for Fyre Festival 2] in the municipality.”

Now, McFarland is working to prove that the festival will proceed as scheduled by posting a series of "confirmation" emails on social media.

On April 5, McFarland shared via Instagram: “FYRE has been working directly with the government of Playa del Carmen (PDC) and their officials since March 5, 2025, to ensure a safe and successful event.”

The post included emails from local tourism boards, as well as letters and permits that supposedly authorize the event.

“FYRE has worked as a responsible partner with PDC government and has adhered to all necessary processes and procedures to lawfully host the event,” McFarland said.

Meanwhile, the festival is promoting merchandise on its official Instagram, featuring T-shirts, bucket hats, and caps with the slogan: "Fyre Festival 2 is real."
