IN THE SPOTLIGHT: CHRIS METCALFE

Tell us a little about yourself.

I'm originally from the UK but my first residency in the Middle East was at Zero Gravity almost 10 years ago, warming up for Gareth Emery. After my set, I was offered a residency and everything built from there – supporting some of the biggest acts on a weekly basis really helped push my name in the Middle East, and also further develop me as an open format DJ.

No weekend was the same – one week I was warming up for Paul Van Dyk, the next Camelphat, or Fatboy Slim. I then went on to be a resident DJ at FIVE Palm, as well as Cove Beach JBR where I've been for 7 years now.

You've just released a new track on Armada Music, how does it feel to have a track signed to one of the biggest dance labels in the world?

It really is amazing, Armin Van Buuren personally signed my debut track many years ago، and I've had a lot of releases on Armada. ُMy new track on ‘Espalmador’ was signed last year and the feedback has been brilliant. It has a real 90s, Balearic sound, which was inspired by my clubbing days in Ibiza.

What's coming up next for you?

In the last 12 months, I have released 6 tracks and there's still more to come. I have another 3 scheduled to come out over the next 5-6 months.
