RAVERS IN DUBAI CELEBRATES 3 YEARS WITH THE LAUNCH OF ESSENTIAL

Dubai’s most authentic underground club collective, Ravers In Dubai, marks its third birthday with the launch of a brand-new event: ESSENTIAL, a night dedicated to 90s and 00s house music and the people who still care about it.

RID has grown steadily since its inception in 2022, building a loyal, music-focused crowd that values community over clout and connection over commercialism. Founded by long-time house head Simon Fee, Ravers In Dubai was born out of a desire to bring back the soul of clubbing in a city dominated by high-end, influencer-led nightlife. What started as a few mates sharing tunes and dancefloors has grown into a movement.

The people who attend RID events are mostly nostalgic ravers in their 30s, 40s and 50s who grew up on mix tapes, Essential Mixes, pirate radio, and sticky-floored dancefloors. Alongside them are a growing number of open-minded younger clubbers seeking something deeper and more grounded. It’s an inclusive, music-led crowd, always there for the tunes first.

ESSENTIAL is a new event series from RID, taking direct inspiration from the BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix and Essential Selection shows that shaped UK club culture in the 90s and 00s. It’s not a retro night or a tribute event, it’s a continuation for an older house head, living their adult life in the desert!! A proper night of warm, vocal, rolling house music delivered by DJs who were there the first time around, and still believe in its power.

The launch party will take place at McGettigan’s JLT on Saturday 5th July, with a strong local DJ lineup including RID residents Simon Fee, LFunk, Tom Tazey and Tim Cheddar. Entry is free all night.
