TRAXSOURCE INTRODUCES AL-ASSISTED AND HUMAN-MADE LABELS ACROSS ITS PLATFORM
The leading house music download store says the move is designed to increase transparency as AI continues to reshape the music industry
Traxsource has announced the introduction of Human-Made and AI-Assisted music labels across its platform, becoming one of the first major dance music download stores to formally classify music based on the role artificial intelligence played in its creation.
The new classification system will come into effect on July 1, 2026, and forms part of the company's broader strategy to address the growing presence of AI within music production while maintaining transparency for DJs, producers and consumers.
Founded by DJs for DJs, Traxsource has long been one of the most influential platforms in house music. The company says the new initiative is designed to help users better understand how music is created, allowing them to make informed decisions while embracing technological innovation.
The announcement follows the publication of Traxsource's "Our Position on AI Music" statement earlier this year, which outlined the company's stance on AI-generated music, transparency and content classification.
As part of the rollout, Traxsource has partnered with AI detection specialists SH Labs and SoundPatrol. The companies will assist in identifying and categorising music uploaded to the platform through a combination of detection technology and content analysis.
Under the new policy, music identified as fully AI-generated will not be permitted on the platform and will be removed. Tracks that involve AI tools as part of a wider human-led creative process will be classified as AI-Assisted, while traditionally produced works will receive a Human-Made label.
The platform says it will also operate a rebuttal process, allowing labels and content providers to challenge classifications if they believe music has been incorrectly labelled.
Traxsource Co-Founder and Managing Director Brian Tappert described the decision as another defining moment in the company's history.
According to Tappert, the company has built its reputation on embracing change and innovation, from launching influential record labels to pioneering digital music sales during the decline of the vinyl market.
He explained that Traxsource does not view artificial intelligence as a temporary trend, but rather as a technology that will become a permanent part of music creation. The company's focus, he said, is finding a way for AI and human artistry to coexist while ensuring the value of creativity remains with artists.
The introduction of AI-Assisted and Human-Made labels arrives at a time when the wider music industry continues to debate the role of artificial intelligence in creative work.
While many artists have embraced AI-powered tools for tasks such as sound design, composition assistance and workflow optimisation, concerns remain around ownership, originality and the potential impact of fully automated music generation.
Traxsource's updated policy attempts to draw a distinction between AI as a creative tool and music created entirely by generative systems without meaningful human input.
The Human-Made and AI-Assisted labels, alongside Traxsource's updated Terms of Service and AI policy, will officially launch on July 1, 2026.
The move positions Traxsource at the forefront of one of dance music's most important conversations, as the industry continues to navigate the balance between technological advancement and the preservation of human creativity.
